Puppy Training Games
Puppy games are meant to create a long lasting bonding experience that is both fun and exciting for you and your new found puppy. By playing games with your puppy not only do you build up your relationship, but you can also teach it valuable commands that can be used later down the road. These games are fun, easy, and most of all have some underlying purpose to ensure that you and your puppy have a strong loving bond.
Some easy and fun games that you can play with your puppy are hide-and-seek, come game and catch. These games are extremely simple, and can be done in the leisure of your backyard or outside. To play hide and seek with your puppy, wait until your puppy is no longer paying attention to you, or is distracted by something, and then go hide. When you find a reasonably simple hiding spot, call your puppy and wait for him/her to come greet you. This game has two very useful purposes, first being that it teaches your puppy his or her name where they can react to it. Secondly, it is a fun way to train a puppy to respond and furthermore come to you when you call his or her name.
The second game is the come game. This game is very simple. All you need is a toy that your puppy enjoys. First, you will need to sit approximately 10-15 feet apart from your puppy. After you are situated, call for your puppy while you show your puppy his/her favorite toy. Once your puppy comes to you, praise your puppy for his/her good work and then allow your puppy to play with the toy. After your puppy had a minute or two of play with the toy, place the toy behind your back. As you continue to play this game with your puppy, it will allow you to teach your puppy to come to you when your puppy is being called. Not only is this a fun game for you and your puppy, but it allows you to teach your puppy some obedience.
The third game requires little description, but catch is actually a great way to bond with your puppy. To your puppy, you are instinctively the person who is controlling what is going on to them. This is one of the best ways to build a loving relationship with your puppy, and still get a little workout in!
