Puppy Shots Timeline

To keep your puppy healthy, it is important for you to follow the vaccination schedule. It is a very important part of dog care that many puppy owners should keep in mind. There are many diseases that can harm a dog's life. Some of the diseases include: hepatitis, a river disease, distemper, lungs and intestine disease, infectious bronchitis, intestinal viral diseases and more. There are different kinds of vaccines that can cure different kinds of diseases. These vaccinations are taken in different time periods and some are taken more than once throughout the life of your dog.

When your puppy is 6 to 8 weeks old, it should take its first DHLPP and corona. Corona is a vaccine for intestinal viral disease and DHLPP is for 5 different diseases.

DHLPP prevents canine distemper which is a viral disease affecting the brain, lungs and intestine, canine hepatitis, leptospirosis, which is a urinary tract bacterial disease, Para influenza, which is an intestinal viral disease. When your puppy is 11 to 12 weeks, it needs its 2nd DHLPP and corona, with the 3rd one in their 15 to 16 week period. After 4 months, they need rabies vaccination and they will go through their first heartworm test when they reach 7 to 9 months. When the puppy reaches its adulthood, it needs DHLLP vaccine once a year. Also, they need heartworm tested yearly and a second rabies vaccine after 12 months of their first rabies vaccine. On top of these vaccines, you can also add vaccination against kennel cough.

As always consult your Vet before making any decisions. Your Vet should know the proper schedule to follow and they can of course also administer the shots.
