Dog Names: Oly and Ribbon

by Erin C

Oly's Story: My parents got married in June 1982 and for Christmas that year my dad gave my mom a liver and white English Springer Spaniel puppy. He like to chew on everything, and if he got ahold of cans he would chase them around the room. Apparently his favorite was Olympia beer cans. So the OLYmpia beer can fan became Oly.

Ribbon's story: When I was five my parents bought me a springer puppy for Christmas (even though it was November). I decided to name her Ribbon, and there are two stories. The one my mom knows is she was my present, and beautiful like a christmas ribbon (she was, black and white and exactly what a springer should look like). The real story (that mom DOESN'T know) is my uncle had a dog named Rueben and I had met him when I was three. I swore I would name any dog I got after him, but being five when the time came I couldn't remember, and I was too stubborn to ask. Ribbon was as close as I could get. She was the sweetest girl.
